Kakadu 4WD Safaris commenced in 2002 as a small independent, family Owned and Operated tour company.
Darren Raymond purchased the business in 2013.
Darren is one of only a small number of Aboriginal tour operators guiding & operating extended tours into Kakadu National Park. He is a true, born & bred Territorian who has been working as a Tour guide for over 15 years.
Having gained an insight into tourism operations initially studying and completing a course in Tourism, He then gained considerable experience working for a number of tour operators. He is in an unique position to pass this on to those who come on an adventure safari with him and of course to other Kakadu 4WD Safari’s guides.
Darren had established his own business in 2007, Demmob Cultural Tours & Remote Catering, and mainly focussed on group & private charters to Kakadu and remote catering whilst continuing to work as a guide. Demmob’s objective was to facilitate a medium where family and Countrymen can become involved in the tourism industry, share their knowledge of the land and their culture with other people, and in doing so, provide a sound economic benefit to all.
The purchase and operation of Kakadu 4WD Safaris is a major step towards achieving these objectives.
Senior Guide – Justin Lawson
As Darren is usually quite busy with catering, he cannot do all the work! Most of the 3 Day Safaris and extended charters are conducted by our senior guide.
Justin has extensive experience guiding through the Kimberley, Central Australia and the Top End. He has studied Indigenous Cultures & Anthropology and has formed close & trusted relationships with Traditional owners in many regions. His love and knowledge of the bush and Aboriginal culture is first rate.
